why i pay myself to make art

why i pay myself to make art

it's all i can do to add a little beauty to the world around me . . . to grab something and modify it to make it special and bright, to create a gift out of something that might've been left behind.

i draw and paint on so many things around me that it takes a lot of my time . . . yet i can't help myself. it seems to be my job.

i see folks spending money on lots of art, from cheap prints for 12 bucks at walmart to bespoke goods at distinctive seasonal art markets.  so i decided to pay myself a living wage for what i make: about $40-60 / hour, a living wage in my part of the world.

25% of my proceeds are funnelled to Wild Child, a nature-based nonprofit offering outdoor programs to young children in Victoria BC.

when you pay me for an art piece, you pay it forward to a child laughing & running through the woods! thank you so much for your support.
